Welcome aboard the Spaceship BERRY-5!

You are part of the galactic civilization "Berrygeusians" who have a particular craving for rare blueberries. The problem is dangerous asteroids might get into your way during your space blueberry harvest. Luckily your civilization developed powerful rocket engines. If you go faster, time moves slower for you, as seen by others. That means your blueberry supply lasts longer, but all other objects move faster as well.

Explore space and try to collect as many blueberries as you can before you run out of them or collide with any asteroids. (it might take some exploring before you find some blueberries)

Controls:

  • Use your mouse to move the spaceship.
  • The farther you move your mouse away from your ship, the faster you go!
  • Beware: As you go faster, your sense of time changes. Other objects appear to move faster. The blueberry supply lasts equally long, no matter how fast you go.

Disclamer: I don't know physics, I just watched a 2 minute video on YouTube about spacetime

Let me know your highscore in the comments! :)

Update: While this game was originally made for the Trijam 121 in 3 hours and 9 minutes, I uploaded an updated version with some minor quality-of-life changes, but no major changes. For a detailed changelog please see the devlog. If you want to you can still download the original submission though!

I like how you made the ship to accelerate via mouse position in relation with the ship position...Took me some time to figure it out but once I did that I was forever known in the Milky-Way galaxy as the: Blueberry_Gobbler. :) would be nice to have some sort of events like meting and talking to an alien and perhaps play a little game with him. Music is nice but after I while it starts to get annoying.

Hi, thanks for playing! :) Some story elements would definitely have been cool, however, it wouldn't have fitted into the 3 hour development time limit I had. Yeah, the music was kind of rushed. But glad you liked the game, Blueberry_Gobbler haha!

Nice bright 8 bit graphics!  TBH, we found it challenging to control the ship... going faster just plowed us into the spacetime of an orange asteroid!  Did you compose the music?

Hi, thanks, I used the Game Boy Color Type1 color palette. :)

Yeah, it can be kind of hard. I guess the main problem is that the speed depends on how many pixels the mouse cursor is away from the screen center, so if you have a 4k monitor and play in fullscreen you'll have a harder time handling the space ship compared to a Full HD screen. I'll have to look into that, not sure though if I am allowed to update the game yet.

Yes, in like 5 minutes in Bosca Ceoil, haha.

Cool! I love the way you can influence time, by changing the distance between your mouse and the spaceship, that's a great idea!

Thank you! :) Yeah, to be honest I am surprised myself that I managed to get it working withing 3 hours.

Great! The mouse input logic is particularly successful.

Thanks a lot :)
