The Last Bite
Run a food stand in Vienna in the post-apocalyptic future where the climate has gotten worse over the years. The food you serve to customers affects the heat based on real CO2 equivalent data*. I.e. if a customer orders a wrap, you can decide to serve them a beef wrap, a chicken wrap, or a tofu wrap. You can gather the ingredients for the recipes after each shift in the scavenging phase, where you roam the streets to find food. Your water supply runs out quickly, but if you serve enough low-emission food to your customers, the temperature will cool down** and you will have more time to explore and gather resources.
How to Play:
- Drag ingredients into the wok and press the 'Cook' button to combine them into a dish.
- Drag the dish to the customer who ordered it within their time limit.
- Look up recipes by clicking on the top left note that says 'Recipes'.
- You only need one of the ingredients per box, i.e. for a burger you need a burger bun, lettuce, one ingredient of type cheese (vegan cheese or cow cheese), and one ingredient of type meat/meat-alternative (e.g. beef, chicken, seitan, etc.)
- After all customers are gone, you can see what people will order on the next day. click on the button to enter the scavenging phase.
- Point and click where you want your character to move towards.
- Click on the orange bags to see what's inside them, then click on the ingredients you want to pick up. When you move away from the bag, the remaining ingredients vanish.
- Once your inventory is full or your water supply runs out, you'll automatically switch back to the food serving phase.
Update v1.1
- Game can be paused with ESC
- Added Exploration mode: Roam around freely in post-apocalyptic Vienna with no time limit
- Improved and fixed visuals
This game is a submission to the Climate Pact Game Jam, and placed 3rd in the popularity voting.
*The food CO2e data has been scaled with a formula in order to improve gameplay and show more quickly the impact of the food.
**Of course eating food with a lower carbon footprint in the real world does not cool the planet, it just warms the planet significantly less.
